20/11/2008 - Stags defeated in FA Youth Cup

MANSFIELD’S youth team bowed out of the FA Youth Cup at the second round stage after losing 3-1 at Lincoln City.

The Stags started the game well but it was the hosts who went in front in the 13th minute through Nathan Adams.

Soon after, it was 2-0 to City as James Cooper fired home.

Mansfield pressed and after going close on a couple of occasions pulled a goal back two minutes from the break when Tom Naylor scored from close range.

The Stags began the second half on top but missed two decent chances and were made to pay when Andy Hutchinson found the net for the Red Imps.

And, from there, there was no way back from Mansfield, despite five minutes of stoppage time being played.
